Sports

Who knew being a sports fan could be so much work. I'm constantly checking websites, reading articles, and checking scores and standings just to see where my teams are sitting. In a world with so many negative activities it's easy to get caught up in something else, but not me. I choose sports.

I may not play, but I can be a huge fan. I cheer on several teams but the top of my list as many of you already know are the Minnesota Wild. It's been a tough couple years and its very rough on a fan for their team to struggle. I know some of you are probably thinking... GET OVER IT, ITS JUST SPORTS! Well your right but wrong. Why? Because passion is something we are programmed to have about something or many things like my case. I'm passionate about my life, wife, sports etc. and when you have a passion such as mine it's not easy to just get over.

Now realize the teams I cheer for: Minnesota Wild, Timberwolves, Twins, Swarm, Lynx and the Green Bay Packers. It's been a really crazy year and now that most of the big seasons I really look forward to (NHL, NBA, NFL) are wrapping up or already over its tough to realize none of my teams did very well when it came down to the big picture of a championship. Okay I realize I'm rambling so I'm done my point of writing this blog was to ask a big question: Do you cheer for more than one team in each sport? If so, how? I have my second favorite team in just about every sport but I struggle to actually follow and cheer for them. Please give me your opinion as it's greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Broken

This video made me think back to my childhood and the time when my parents divorced. It's kind of crazy how when you first hear the words, "Mom's not coming home". I've talked to a lot of people about my parents divorce when it was happening up to when I met my wife and beyond.

One thing their divorce gave me was a strong beginning to my own life. I quickly had to learn how to take care of myself: Laundry, Cooking, Cleaning, Homework without the help etc. I do find it interesting in this video how he refers to us as "Product of a broken home". What an interesting quote to think about.

I don't like divorce and I really think our nation needs to realize the meaning and consenquences of it more but in my case I think I turned out alright if not a little stronger and better when its all said and done. I believe in fate and of course you've heard me talk about my faith. God is with us no matter what and sometimes bad things happen but in the end we have to stay strong, keep our faith and rely on God to help us through it.

Heres the video of the song he's explaining above:

A Little Faith

In Isaiah 55 it says:
“Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk it’s all free!"
How powerful is that? It's amazing! As my walk with faith began and where it is today I often wonder if I'm making the steps forward that I should be, am I strengthening my walk with Christ or is it weakening? I think it's important to often ask this question for anyone.

My walk with Christ started on Saturday, July 18, 2009. It's crazy, some people may not believe me when I can pin-point an exact date of when it happened but I can. I can go further and tell you that the band Thousand Foot Krutch was on stage and they were playing the song "What do we know". It's such an amazingly powerful song. I think I always imagined that in order to believe we almost needed to know so much and this song was the first time I really got the chance to hear that it is really okay not to know everything, and really that NO ONE really knows it all.

A lot of us I think fear the idea of walking with Christ because we fear what others will think, or judgements by non-believers and I know in my case that was exactly it. I write this right now knowing that most of my friends will read a line of this then stop because "it's not their thing". That's fine, but that's not going to stop me.

I'm going to continue to write more posts on this subject in the near future so if you are reading please look-out for them! Thanks!

Home

Welcome to my home-town of Benson. I grew up in this town and never lived anywhere else until I moved to Montevideo with my wife. I have many fond memories of growing up here, well there of course was some bad ones as well.

Benson is your typical small-town Minnesota type town. There's really no stores to shop at other than the normal small shops which can barely stand up on their own, but somehow a person really grows to love it. I grew up from running around with friends to getting my permit to taking my drivers test and passing on the roads in this town. I went to school, played sports, and of course cheered on my hometown high school team in this town.

Benson always will be "home" to me for quite some time, but I'm not saying I don't like where I'm at because I really do but some of you know what it feels like to have the "home-town" that another town just can't replace, so you know what I'm talking about.

Taxes

Tax season is in full swing and we have finally finished our taxes. I'm curious to know which tax software do you use? I've been using TurboTax since the first time I ever filed. It seems to get the job done and I'm usually pretty happy with my returns.

There is a penalty that comes with success as we have learned this year. I think the government does have a little work to do on adjusting the income levels etc. but overall I'm pretty satisfied with how we turned out this year.

How did you do?
